taking a break

Last week we had the week off from class because of a national holiday! Monday and Tuesday we spent some time with students playing badminton and ping pong. Wednesday I went to a Starbucks in town and read more of One Thousand Gifts and had a long quiet time.  Thursday some of us went on a hike! Here are a few pictures. It was beautiful!
Here's Meg and me with some new friends
We started at the top of the mountain!
the view from the very top!
The picture didn't do it justice so here's a video I took...

we rode on a little boat for a few minutes

On Friday we traveled to another city to visit some of our friends. It was my first time to ride on the fast train and it was really nice. Only took us 2 hours! This weekend we got to eat a lot of American food and shop at Ikea and H&M. We also walked around this shopping street. I think it was built a few years ago to look like an old ancient city.

this is normal...unfortunately

I loved having a break from class. Now I'm glad to be back in our city and back in my own bed!

"So the Word became human
and made his home among us.
He was full of unfailing love
and faithfulness. And we have
seen his glory, the glory of the
Father's one and only Son. From
his abundance we have all received
one gracious blessing after another."
John 1:14,16

I am still loving One Thousand Gifts! We continue to see God's glory because we have received one grace after another...after another...after another. Ann Voskamp says praying with eyes wide open is the only way to pray without ceasing.  Unless I call my attention to what passes before my eyes, I simply won't see it.

  2. Kelsey! Everything looks amazing! I love your pictures of your hike in the mountains. Those little walkways along the sides of the mountain looked intense. At my church in Durham last week we talked about praising God in science and nature. I can definitely say that the more I learn about the human body at Duke, the more reason I have to praise our Maker. Also, every single detail of nature brings me to praise Him, and your video from the top of the mountain took my breath away. I believe that when I stand before the throne, I will be speechless....just like I am when I witness His power through science and nature. I love you friend!
